Yes, were back with vengeance of fire and of course, by popular
demand. They want to be in it for the Fun,
the Challenge and the Scene. The successful launch of the first journal
was exceptional and well received by your sincere feedback. We therefore decided to go a little further
by developing a website to ease our E-mailing of journals and hopefully the
coming golf administration schedules.
With the extended courtesy of our excellent webmaster Mike
Gee, we are able to complete this site in a short notice. This will save time and space and avoid
return 'Bounce Mail' issues from our readers, so bookmark the site www.clix.to/golfkaki in your explorer
favorite list. For the non- computer
literate, man it is sad day for you! Better be late than sorry, there is still
time for you. Aiyah! Penalty 4 Stroke Lah! We, at the moment will improve the website
based on your suggestions and feedback. Your journal contributions on trips
that did not surface with us, please feel to write to us. Try to remember that
these pieces of artwork are all -voluntary and does consume individual time; so
please be patient and wait for the pin to be placed back in the hole first
before you drive that Killer 250m Shot!J
Technology has changed the game of golf, so much that ‘Pinks and Clinks’ are
getting louder on the Tee-Off. The
‘Titanic Heads’ are getting so Big and Large that one day we will run out of
titanium and steel and have to use 24k Gold instead! J
On the Oversea’s
scene, we have Steven Ho (Reg Ex Cdo) venturing
towards Sabah (Mount Kinabalu). We hope
to receive his reviews shortly after his return, he probably need to dress like
Payne Steward or like British Open Turtle Neck sweater for tee-offs. On the serious note, I have heard that the
course is highly rated among those who have been there, done that and will be
back there…..the list goes on…For trips to Thailand, one may wish to seek our Sydney
Galistan for Best Greens and Best Deals $$^^*&*@#@! Closer to our Shores! Yes…..its our own Army
Half Marathon at Pulai Springs! Just a 15 to 20 min drive from the Old Cause-way,
comprising of 2 courses (Old and New) @ M$100.00 first 18 and M$60.00 for the
second 18. The new course can be
describe as a infant course with greens not fully developed, buggies at this
point in time are not allowed in the fairways.
The course is in average condition rather dry with large sloppy greens
that can cause havoc to poor putting.
Par distance is considered
average
and forgiving enough. Not
satisfied with the previous photographic pose and stylo mylo finishing. The 11- man inclusive of 2 Babes,
Vivien
and Nancy,
the expedition team set their sights in getting their perfect ‘Tiger
Wood’ finishing poses taken.
With that, they needed 36 holes to find that ultimate atmosphere, that
inspiration, first 18 walk next 18 troot! Wow! It was Tough 36 Holes, Dude!
After lunch at the club house, it was back to the Old Course for the next
18. As partners exchanged, we set
ourself to the scorching sun, this time luck was with us as the buggies was
allowed on the fairways. The Old course
is decribe as long and with tricky greens.
One can even lose distance forward in putting having underestimated the
slopes. The battle continued…..as the 'Pink-Clang'
party of 3 flights miraclously gathered themselves on the 12th
hole. This 118m hole was the talk of
the town as many who were there wondered if the distance was correct. Seperated between the Valley of Darkness and
chances of losing their $8.00 custom ball. The first few started and began to
lose their ball, the rest were bringing out their longer, longer and Longest
Club. Yes, you are right some
brought out the Drivers! As they Chromed the Ball and had it embedded
into the retaining slopes. As the hole
became a Starbucks coffee house for all 3 flights, the behind flight did not
find it amusing at all. It was a Orgy Saarong Party up
there!
As the sunset beyond the horizon, the party gathered on the
18th hole for the rest to arrive.
Yes! With the darkness setting in and well beaten by the scorching
weather, some were still braving it on to be among the day's champions. Taking the Day's Stableford points and $
awards was
Vivien
in Fourth position, Third was Pach, Second Yours Truly and Champ for
the Day's 36 holes was Seng Huat
At the end of the tiring marathon, we have to admit we were
drained by the overall weather and time taken for the entire 36 holes with 200
Dry swings, 170 Strokes. Did they get the 'Tiger Wood' pose? Some
did, some maybe on the Next Outing…………………your
journalist ….Robin.

Tanjong Puteri located 25 Minutes away from Singapore, a little
further than Pulai Springs is where the Johor King plays his regular golf. Not contended with the width of the tight
fairways, he decided to build 3 x 18-hole golf course. The story of His OB's ended from that day!J
Comprising of courses A, B and C, the conditions and difficulty
varied on the 3 courses. Course 'A'
described as a Premier Course where regular competitions are held. Conditions of the greens and fairways were
excellent, not as long and difficult as the rest of the others as
compared. Course 'C' was similar with
conditions similar and in the medium difficulty range. Course 'B' as we played
was the most difficult as we found them to be.
Extremely long Par 4's, high handicappers can only look towards
reasonable boogies. Only excellent drives,
long straight irons or woods then accurate wedges near the pin will bring you
that ultimate Par. Boogie was the call
at the end of the day. Sand bunkers
were everywhere trapping average drive distance between 200 to 220m, It
was Tough, It was Tricky and you will Pay for Your Mistakes! As
the fairways was narrow as 25m. Hookers and Slicers will die on this course!
Be warned that this course will tear you, it will whipped you badly if
you are not ready 'Stay
Away!' Par 3's can be as far as 220m, greens are very tight, small landing
areas and have bunkers and flower beds all over. You will pay for inaccuracy, Guaranteed! Water… Huh! Like a river,
if you are looking for a discipline course, look no further…. This
is one of them! Depending on the degree of challenges you want to seek,
this may not be one you will enjoy at this point in time.
Gathered on this outing was a group with credentials beyond
doubt, we had former medal winners, Sembawang CC B, C Divisions winners,
previous winners. They were there, they
were ready and they all wanted to try ‘B’ Course. Before we go further, take a lesson from Mike Gee and remember to
have your driving license valid at all times.
Never presume anything even at the customs point. Teeing –off in the first flight comprising
of Mike, Pach, Hong Yew and myself and behind with Steven Chan, Wong Kah Keng,
Kok Chin and Seng Huat. As the flight progress, the holes became tougher, there
was water, and there were sand bunkers.
There were traps at every leg.
This course was tough for the distance and demanding on accuracy. Eventual winners were Seng Huat taking 3rd
spot; Steven Chan in 2nd and the deserving Champ Wong Kah Keng with
81 Strokes.
